Heinrich "Henry" Metz is owner and skipper of Shaitan of Tortola. Henry is
in his mid forties and has been sailing all his life. He first came to the
Caribbean in 1985, crossing the Atlantic on a 29' sloop together with a
friend of his. After sailing back to his home country Germany in 1986, he
returned to the Caribbean in the following year together with his girlfriend
on the same 29' sloop. In 1989 they started in the Crewed Charter Business,
first with a 50' sloop and since 1995 with Shaitan of Tortola.
Just recently their daughter got born and "mom" stays ashore, while the boat
is out on charter.
Henry is a civil engineer by trade. He also served as a navigator in the navy
and worked as a sailing instructor. He is holding a German Ocean Operator
License, is a dive master and has some racing experience. Henry likes to build
and create, all evident in most of the custom refitting and ongoing maintenance and improvement done by Henry
himself. Beside water sports he is interested in Nature and he loves music.
After having always been involved in cooking and helping preparing gourmet dishes for years in the Crewed
Charter Business he knows his way around the galley.
The mate on the yacht is Jason Bourne. A native from the island of Trinidad, he has worked with Henry for several
years. He is a very kind young man and very much appreciated by all guests aboard Shaitan.
